Alia Khizer, MA
Alia (she/her/hers) holds a B.A. in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Spanish, and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a Women, Gender, and Sexuality Certificate from Columbia University. She has worked with young people across hospitals, schools, clinics, and outpatient programs, supporting individuals navigating ADHD, autism, social anxiety, low self-esteem, family conflict, and challenges with confidence and self-image.
She specializes in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Group IPT, evidence-based approaches that focus on improving relationships and social functioning to reduce symptoms of depression and strengthen overall well-being. With warmth and relatability, Alia creates spaces where clients feel seen, heard, and respected, helping them build safety and trust both within themselves and in their relationships.
Alia’s passion for mental health is deeply personal. Having grown up with a mother who struggled with depression, she witnessed firsthand the challenges families face and was inspired to support others in navigating similar hardships. Her volunteer work in hospital Mother/Baby and Pediatric Units further strengthened this commitment—whether screening mothers for postpartum depression or connecting with families in Urdu to make them feel understood and cared for.
At Wonder, Alia is drawn to the unique approach that blends activities with therapeutic support, allowing young people to connect in more authentic and comfortable ways than a traditional office setting. Outside of her work, she sings professionally, writes music, and enjoys time with her beloved cat, Meenu. For Alia, her role at Wonder is more than a job—it’s a passion that empowers her to help others express themselves authentically and creatively.
