Brandon Alonso, MA

Brandon (he/him/his) holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Health Studies from Fairfield University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Haven. He is currently working toward full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey. Brandon’s clinical training includes providing trauma-informed psychotherapy at Pathways to Healing & Social Justice, where he supports adolescents, families, and diverse communities through culturally responsive care. He has also held roles in program coordination and education at institutions such as Columbia University and Fairfield University, including work at Columbia University Medical Center supporting medical trainees.

Brandon’s passion for working with adolescents and family systems began early through volunteer work and continued in college while serving as a Resident Advisor, where he supported over 180 first-year students with academic, emotional, and personal concerns. Inspired by his own lived experiences and the impact of compassionate support, Brandon is deeply committed to being the kind of presence he once searched for during difficult moments. He was drawn to Wonder because of its emphasis on flexibility, creativity, and authentic relationships, as well as its dedication to meeting young people where they are while supporting whole-person growth within family systems.

Brandon takes an integrative, individualized approach that includes Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. He specializes in trauma-informed care, identity development, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression, and is especially passionate about reducing mental health stigma within BIPOC, LatinX, and underserved communities. Known for his warmth, patience, and authenticity, Brandon creates a safe, non-judgmental space where adolescents feel genuinely seen and supported, using real conversation, humor, and openness to build meaningful connections.

Outside of his work, Brandon is proudly LatinX from the Bronx and deeply values culture, family, and community. He comes from a large family with six sisters and one brother and enjoys spending time with his parents. He’s also a devoted dog parent to his two-year-old Aussiedoodle, Maui, who is training in obedience and search-and-rescue. In his free time, Brandon enjoys sports, fitness, gaming, exploring new food spots, visiting museums and art galleries, and staying connected to his interests in music, sneakers, and Pokémon.
