Cassius Owens
Cassius (he/his) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently completing his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. He brings several years of experience working in an inpatient psychiatric setting, where he has supported individuals across all age groups. Through this work, Cassius discovered a strong passion for working with teens and collaborating with families, finding fulfillment in building meaningful connections and offering insight to support both individuals and their broader support systems.
Cassius has been drawn to the mental health field since high school, when his early exposure to psychology and involvement in community support work sparked a deeper interest in understanding people and their experiences. Over time, he has continued to pursue opportunities—both clinical and non-clinical—to support others, guided by a desire to be a steady, positive presence in someone’s mental health journey.
He was especially drawn to Wonder’s flexible, relationship-based approach, which allows for more personalized and meaningful connections than traditional clinical settings. Cassius believes that growth happens most effectively when individuals feel engaged, empowered, and supported in ways that resonate with them.
His approach integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and narrative therapy, often woven into conversations and activities that align with each client’s interests. Cassius prioritizes meeting clients where they are, offering a supportive and nonjudgmental presence while also gently encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zones and recognize their own capacity for growth.
Cassius believes that meaningful breakthroughs often come through the things people already enjoy. Whether through hobbies, media, or shared interests, he works to create therapeutic experiences that feel approachable and relevant, helping clients build insight, resilience, and a greater sense of agency. He is especially passionate about helping young people engage in the process of growth in ways that feel manageable, empowering, and sustainable.
Outside of his work, Cassius enjoys staying active and closely following a variety of sports. He has a growing interest in games, music, and shows across many genres, and enjoys exploring new interests. Recently, he has taken up cooking and baking as a way to expand his skills and spend more time creating at home. Cassius also values time with his family, including his two younger siblings.
Cassius is committed to being a supportive and encouraging presence for young people and their families, helping to build a bridge toward growth, connection, and long-term success.
