David Perez, LMSW
David (he/him) is an LMSW who brings heartfelt dedication and a strengths-based approach to his work with youth and families. He began his career in 2021 at The Child and Family Guidance Center, where he supported teens navigating substance use challenges through harm-reduction practices and offered compassionate guidance to their families. Since then, he has continued to work with young people and parents facing co-occurring mental health and behavioral concerns, helping families access meaningful skills, resources, and community support.
Inspired by his own lived experiences, David chose the social work field to create a positive impact for individuals and families with similar backgrounds to his own. Giving back to the communities that shaped him is at the core of his work. He was drawn to Wonder’s deeply relational and flexible model, valuing how it meets families where they are—emotionally, physically, and situationally—while strengthening the entire family system rather than focusing on one individual alone.
David integrates Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and DBT into his practice. He uses MI to foster trust and intrinsic motivation for change, CBT to help shift unhelpful thought patterns and build coping skills, and DBT to support emotional regulation, mindfulness, and healthier relationships. Known for his empathy, authenticity, and patience, David creates a non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported as they learn new ways to express themselves and navigate life’s challenges.
With a passion for working with kids, teens, and families, David focuses on building trust, meeting each young person where they are, and setting achievable, meaningful goals together. His military background taught him discipline, resilience, and steadiness under pressure—qualities that now support his grounded and calm presence with families.
Outside of work, David enjoys playing basketball, spending quality time with family, working on cars, going to the track or Cars & Coffee, and sharing laughs and friendly competition over a game of dominoes.
