Jennifer Gatlin, LPC
Jennifer is a warm and approachable therapist who is passionate about supporting young adults, parents, and families as they navigate mental health challenges and life transitions. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Grand Canyon University and her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Houston Victoria. Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with experience working in various settings, including residential treatment, in which she spent over two years supporting young adults and their families through intensive therapeutic work and family programming.
During her time in residential treatment, Jennifer was able to experience firsthand the impact that family involvement has on healing and growth. She loved witnessing moments where parents and their children were able to truly see and understand one another with empathy and compassion. Facilitating family support groups and educational programming became some of the most meaningful parts of her work and helped shape her passion for family-centered care. Drawn to Wonder’s collaborative model, Jennifer values the opportunity to support both young people and their parents simultaneously, helping families feel less alone and more connected throughout the therapeutic process.
Jennifer utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual’s needs, frequently incorporating aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) into her work. She places the highest value on forming safe and accepting relationships with clients. She is especially passionate about working with clients who have experienced trauma and are working to better understand how those experiences continue to impact their beliefs, relationships, and sense of self.
Known for her warmth, humor, and encouraging nature, Jennifer strives to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely cared for. She describes herself as “the human version of a golden retriever” and believes laughter and authenticity are important parts of healing. As both a clinician and a parent who has “walked the walk,” Jennifer is also passionate about supporting parents through feelings of guilt, shame, and uncertainty while helping families build hope, connection, and joy together.
Outside of her clinical work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with friends and family. She and her husband love cruising and have a growing bucket list of future cruises they hope to take. Jennifer is also a fan of puzzles of all kinds, Diet Coke, ice cream, and all things Prince — a passion so well known that she received condolence texts when he passed away.
