Kathi Sodell, NCC
Kathi is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University. She brings a wealth of experience from both inpatient and outpatient settings, where she supported individuals and families navigating addiction, eating disorders, and major life transitions. She also co-founded and directed a social skills academy for children, adolescents, and young adults, helping clients build resilience, executive functioning, and social confidence, while guiding parents through coaching and support.
Kathi’s approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)-informed strategies, family systems work, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based coaching. She believes in meeting families where they are and often focuses on transitions — whether it’s a child starting at a new school, a teen struggling with social anxiety, or a young adult adjusting to college. With parents, she emphasizes reframing challenges, improving communication, and setting healthy boundaries, offering practical strategies that reduce stress and strengthen family connections.
Warm, approachable, and creative, Kathi is known for her steady presence and her ability to bring lightness and humor to difficult situations. She creates an environment where clients feel supported and encouraged to take meaningful steps forward. Her passion lies in helping families and individuals recognize their strengths, build confidence, and navigate change with resilience.
Now based in New York City, Kathi enjoys exploring neighborhoods on foot with her camera, writing, and discovering hidden corners of the city. She is close with her two daughters and loves spending time with family — especially with her daughter’s energetic puppy. She believes in progress over perfection and celebrates every step forward, big or small, as part of a family’s journey toward growth and connection.
