Rebecca Goodman, ASW

Rebecca (she/her) is an Associate Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from California State University San Marcos. She has experience working with transitional aged youth, substance and alcohol use disorders, complex trauma and PTSD, behavioral challenges and mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety and depression, domestic violence, and grief and loss. Rebecca spent the last year providing individual and group therapy at Stepping Stone of San Diego, a drug and alcohol recovery agency offering support to the LGBTIA+ and HIV+ communities. She has also worked as a Career Advisor to college students, providing valuable guidance to youth moving forward in their professional journeys. Additionally, Rebecca has experience as a camp counselor, babysitter, and lifeguard, supporting children ages 5 and up in a variety of environments.

Rebecca has always found purpose in helping others, having campaigned for policy driven change and working with community based organizations. She discovered her passion for youth advocacy and support while volunteering as a counselor at the Trevor Project, offering crisis intervention for the LGBTQIA+ population. Her Master of Social Work practicum experience at San Diego Rescue Mission’s emergency shelter further cemented her love for working with specialized populations who need extra care.

Rebecca’s personal experience overcoming childhood trauma and learning self compassion has inspired her to work with others who are struggling. She believes in individualized, creative, and responsive treatment, especially for youth developing their identities. She appreciates Wonder’s approach of meeting clients where they are — whether outdoors, at a coffee shop, or in the water — to connect with individuals in unique ways. She values the family systems theory and considers how the environment, peer relationships, school, work, and other factors shape personalities and behavior patterns.

Utilizing a trauma-informed, client-centered, and solution-focused lens, Rebecca offers a safe and empathetic space to help clients confront challenges and move toward positive change. She helps clients find and nurture their strengths and develop healthy coping methods. Rebecca implements various techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), narrative therapies, and mindfulness. She believes in understanding clients from a holistic perspective and emphasizes the mind-body connection to improve distress tolerance and emotional regulation. Rebecca has facilitated groups in healthy relationships, radical self-acceptance, mindfulness & meditation, and art & music, enjoying creative and active ways to explore communication, growth, and play.

In her free time, Rebecca loves to surf, practice yoga, play guitar, and spend time with her cat, Finn.
